So it’s been 6 months since I gave an update on Carson, and a mad minute since I gave one on Bennett. Here is my update on them both and what I am loving about being a mom to two.
Before I had two kids, I always wondered how your heart could stretch anymore. How would I be able to hold two at the same time? Would Bennett think I forgot about him? Will Bennett like having a brother? Will I grow another arm to attempt to change a diaper and feed my child at the same time? The list goes on.
I’m here to tell you that Life with Two is the most amazing thing I have ever been apart of. Yes, it’s crazy at times and–yes, things change drastically, but as soon as Carson was born I no longer had any questions of concern. Instead my questions turned into excitement. I couldn’t wait for Bennett to meet Carson, I couldn’t wait to cuddle on the couch with both boys, and to sit and read a book with my lap overflowing with love.
When you have a second child, the world is excited for you. However, often times you hear phrases like “oh wow, good luck!”, “oh, those are tough ages”, or my favorite “guess you won’t be going anywhere”. I’m here to tell you those aren’t true. It’s a journey yes, but the time goes by so fast. Enjoy those moments you are in the house all day or didn’t get a shower. Enjoy those days where the kids are driving you nuts and you’re on your second cup of coffee (reheated 4 times). You will love it I promise.
I’m here to share with you why two is amazing.
1. Playmate for life. If your kid complains they need someone to play with, tell them you have no idea what they are talking about. You made them a playmate for life.
2. Double the hugs. When your oldest gets to big for hugs the littlest will still give them to you. Once the oldest sees that they instantly feel a need to give you a hug as well.
3. The littlest learns so much. It amazes me what Carson is already picking up from Bennett. He is amazing in the pool, and I’m pretty sure it’s from watching Bennett every day this summer.
4. Hand me downs. The littlest has no idea that what you are giving them is a hand me down. I’m not just talking clothes, I’m talking about those expensive legos–I’ve already bought them. Here little one. I mean maybe I’ll even wrap them.
5. They share everything. Surprisingly Bennett is an amazing sharer. He shares his toys, books, and even food. In fact, he was eating an ice cream bar the other day–and when I looked over I noticed Carson eating it. He explained “but he wanted some.” Don’t we all.
Now here are the boys that are my everything.
BENNETT
Weight & Height: 34 pounds and 38.75 inches
Size: The boy is tall and skinny. I’m kind of convinced he could wear his brothers shorts, they would just be a little short on him. He wears 2T shorts some even 18 months. I try to put him in 3T but they look so baggy. He is wearing size 9 shoe, which I think is so big!
About Him: He seriously is the sweetest kid, I rarely have any issues with him and his manners are on point. He makes me laugh daily with his antics, and has such a great vocabulary. He has recently become obsessed with learning all of his letters, and that makes me excited that he loves learning. He loves playing with dinosaurs, trucks, and his knex. He’s not a huge fan of fruit (mainly just blueberries) but take him to Sweet Tomatoes and he will eat the whole salad bar plus some Mac and Cheese. This summer he became a great swimmer and swims all over the pool unassisted. He recently went on his first trip by himself with his grandparents, and he had a blast. He said he is ready to go by himself next time. We shall see.
Size: Carson is built different then Bennett, he has a bigger booty and thicker thighs. Meaning He has to wear bigger pants to compensate for his backside, but they kinda look long on him. Sorry dude. He is wearing size 3 Up&Up diapers during the day and size 4 Pampers at night. He wears size 3 shoes!
CARSON
Weight & Height: 19 pounds 4 ounces and we will find out Monday what height is!

About Him: Carson is an easy baby and is very predictable. He is much louder than his brother ever was, and will definitely tell you what he wants when he wants it. He sleeps through the night from about 7PM-6:30AM and takes two naps 9-10/10:30 and 1:30-3:30. He has so many toys, but his favorites are all of his brothers toys. He loves the tools and cars the best, and any straps or buckles. He has his daddy’s brain and is always looking at how stuff works. He has been crawling all around this past month and loves standing and cruising on the furniture. He isn’t a fan of the walker yet, but with time he will love it. He is a phenomenal eater and eats anything we put in front of him. We started swim class this month, and he absolutely loves it.
Looking back over the last 3 years it’s amazing to see how my life has changed with these little boys that have taken over my life. I wouldn’t change it for anything, and that’s why I want to share them with you. They inspire me daily, and help me become a better person.
What is something you love about having two kids?
