Mom’s Night with a Twist

Put a twist on your next mom’s night out with Painting with a Twist.

Being home all day with a toddler and a 7 month old is one of the most rewarding jobs. However, by the end of the day I’m either chatting it up with instastory or talking my husbands ear off.
After talking dinosaurs, cars, and balls–we thrive for those conversations that involve decorating, style, and celebrities. I try and enjoy a mom’s night out once a month just to reconnect with my girlfriends and enjoy myself. This month we chose painting!

I had been wanting to try Painting With A Twist for a while, and finally just went for it. There are many studios in Tampa–we decided on the Westchase location (you can find one near you here). We were greeted by our instructor Pam and given the run down on how everything works. After putting on our smocks, we went and grabbed a drink from the bar and took our seats. You can definitely bring your own drinks and snacks–we just weren’t sure we could drink an entire bottle while painting!

Although painting is not my expertise, I never felt like I couldn’t do something that the instructor was teaching us. Before we started we named the paint brushes as a class so we could easily choose which ones we needed when we had to switch.

The whole picture is done in layers, we start with the background and ultimately work our way up to the top layer. I’ve honestly never painted, and found it extremely easy to follow. The instructor would walk around and give positive feedback on everyone’s piece, and kept offering us ideas that we could make ours unique.

Mine was definitely unique, and I don’t think I will be changing careers any time soon–but I had a great time. I am really excited to go again with my hubby for a date night or with my sons when they get older.

This time my mom and father in law joined and were able to experience a sonogram with us. It’s amazing all the things you can see on a 3D/4D sonogram including her sucking on the umbilical cord, each little finger, her foot on top of her head, and so much more. I highly recommend visiting @babyscene1 with your family.

Homeschooling—it’s something I have truly fall Homeschooling—it’s something I have truly fallen in love with. It allows me the best of both worlds—teaching and being home with my kids. Homeschooling allows these two to become the best of friends. It allows me to really take what we’re learning and put it into our world of play. Imaginative play is so amazing at this young age and they learn so much by just playing. Yesterday, after learning about parallel, perpendicular, and intersecting lines—I took the boys outside to find lines outside. They ended up making a “fire” using sticks that they found, and creating lines out of them. 🔥 If you are hesitant on homeschooling please ask me! I’d love to answer any questions!
