We love that they get a little breathing time, or that their kids are finally back on a schedule. We miss the late movie nights, or the spontaneous weeknight ice cream trip. Listen up, summer will be here before you know it–who am I joking? Those random day offs will be here before you know it and you will have no idea what you are going to do all day with kiddos at home.
One of my son’s favorite things to do this year was pick out his backpack. Gone are the days of rugby stripes and gingham–hello dinosaurs and diggers. As a preschool teacher, I can not tell you enough. Make sure to have a big enough backpack! It is so tough getting everything in a tiny backpack at the end of the day/week. Your little one will be able to carry their own backpack with everything inside, instead of fumbling with a water bottle and blanket in his hands. My favorites are these from Pottery Barn Kids –they usually always have some type of sale going on!
Usually the school provides the actual nap mat that they will sleep on. However, you can usually bring a small blanket and a stuffed animal. I highly recommend these nap mats from Pottery Barn Kids! They roll up nicely and seriously get comfier with every wash.
I’ve had two lunch boxes for Bennett and both I have absolutely loved! I have a Bento Box one from Pottery Barn Kids that they actually no longer have in stock, and we the Fairfax Lunch Bag. The regular squared one is probably my favorite as we can put the bento box in it or throw a thermos in with warm food, it also has a water bottle holder on the side and a mesh pocket for an ice pack!
I’ve had a few different labels for our stuff and by far my favorites have been from BabySmilesLabels. These are very durable and withstand the dishwasher—which is a definite plus for me. They also offer clothing labels which are wonderful for jackets and change of clothes! My readers can use this code for 10% off your order!
Lunch Accessories
I always send a water bottle to school with Bennett. He’s a huge water drinker so he really needed a larger water bottle than the one that is usually made for kiddos his age. I picked up this Camelback Water Bottle for school and it keeps his water cold all day! I also love this Thermos container for warm foods, these ice packs, and this bento box!
Outfitting
Doesn’t every child need a “back to school” outfit? I’m in love with the shirts over at Get the Party Started–I even purchased one for his birthday as well. He loves his Freshly Picked moccasins and wears those occasionally, but I love either the Plae or our Nike Free shoes. Remember–lots of schools don’t allow lace up shoes if the kiddo can’t tie their shoes yet! little note: I always get a cheap outfit for a change of clothes to keep at school.
I hope this help you prepare your littles for preschool. If you are homeschooling and are looking for a curriculum for your preschooler–check out The Reading Corner. This is where we started out, and I am still amazed at the thought that goes into this curriculum.
