Unleashing the Wanderlust Spirit: Exploring the World Through the View From Up Here

Eighth Month Update

Weight/Length: Bennett decided that this month he wanted to throw my calculations off by gaining a little more then he usually does. Bennett weighed in at 16 lbs. 15 oz. and 28″ in length

Hair: His hair continues to grow in the back of his neck and over his ears, its like a light brown with hints of dirty blonde in there.

Diapers: Size 3 Honest Company and Medium Gdiapers

Clothing: 6-12 Months in Gap, Old Navy, and Gymboree. Except some random jeans that must have been sized wrong from the Gap and they finally fit him. 9 Months in Carters, Oshkosh, and Target.

Favorite Things: Spoons, sitting/standing up, Scout, leapfrog table, our phones–He has so many favorite things, but this is what I can think of off the top of my head!
Likes: his elephant lovey, eating, walks with pop pop, walking around the lake, playing outside, being pushed in his swing
Dislikes: When we watch him try to get himself out of a tangled mess, or when he is trying to get a toy and we don’t just give it to him. Despises sippy cups…don’t let this picture fool you. He loved them for a while, hates them now.

Eating: This month we started him on chicken, turkey, and yogurt. He has also tried asparagus, broccoli, nectarines, and cherries. I still make all of his food, and can’t wait for him to try all the stuff I made yesterday. A delicious chicken casserole dish will be on the menu this week!
Milestones: Slept through the night, Dedicated, Says mama (sometimes), Boo, waves hi and bye

Sleeping: On March 30th, Bennett decided he would sleep through the night. He made it from 7:30PM-6:30AM. 2 days later he got some sickness, and that threw that out the window. He did sleep again through the night last week, and has woken up once a night since.

Mama Thoughts:
I can’t believe that 8 months ago today, we were in the hospital painfully anticipating the birth of our son. Who knew that weeks of struggling to get him to gain weight, breastfeeding challenges, no sleep challenges, and so much more seems so trivial now. Not that newborns aren’t fun, but Bennett is getting to such a fun age and we have so much fun playing with him! He has such a personality, and is like his mom when he makes you laugh he just has to laugh too. Hilarious!

Next time you get ready to potty train don’t let Next time you get ready to potty train don’t let ANYONE tell you that one gender is easier than the other. Kids are kids and they each have their own personality. My daughter is very much into doing things herself without help—so potty training had to be done by her not the experts (myself). I used the same potty training technique that I used with the boys, and it did take a bit longer for her to get it—but that’s because she took what I told her to do and did her own thing. 🤣 The next big step? Moving to a big girl bed. I’m not ready. 😭
Ok smoothie, ice cream—it’s all the same thing Ok smoothie, ice cream—it’s all the same thing. Elevate your @corepower drink by using the @ninjakitchen Creami. To prep my ice cream I pour my drink into the container the night before with some bananas. The next morning it’s ready, I mix it twice on lite ice cream. If it seems like it’s not mixing well just add a splash of milk. I typically like to add Lilly’s Chocolate Chips, but they were missing so I found the marshmallows and said whatever and threw some in. I then mixed it on “mix in” and it seriously tastes like a frosty. It is delicious!
