The View of a 30-Something Mom of two

My Baby Boy

Last time I wrote, I only had 50 days to go until we would finally meet our sweet baby boy! My how those weeks dragged on, in the last 4 weeks of my pregnancy I did everything I could to get that baby boy out. What ultimately worked?! A pineapple. On August 13th, 2014 I ate a pineapple. Granted I was in the hospital the week before with contractions, but I like to think the pineapple did it! Because that next day at 1:20PM our precious baby boy Bennett Nicolas was born.

The first few weeks of being a mom were TOUGH. Breastfeeding (a whole different post), sleep, reflux, you name it…it was tough. Around week 3ish-4ish, Bennett developed a reflux that was unbelievable. We had finally started gaining weight only to spit up all the time, and being a new mom whose baby had dropped a bunch of weight the first week home. I was worried. I wanted to do whatever I could to keep him off any type of medication, so we visited the chiropractor. I had read over on Journey of Parenthood about taking her daughter to a chiro. I figured what could it hurt. We went twice a week for 2 months. I believe his reflux improved because of this as well as his ability to move his head so great during tummy time and when sleeping at night.

I had decided before the end of the school year to take a leave and be a full time stay at home mom with a few days of subbing thrown in here and there. I decided to go back to subbing in the beginning of November. It was nice to have interaction with adults again! I’ve only ever gone once a week so far, and we are blessed to have family that lives so close that is able to care for Bennett. I enjoy the alone time and I know Grandma enjoys the time she gets to spend with him. I do constantly thank God that we have people who are always willing to take care of Bennett whenever we need them to.

That’s just a little snippet of what is going on recently, and I can’t wait to share my life with you and let you get a little glimpse of the View From Up Here.

This time my mom and father in law joined and were able to experience a sonogram with us. It’s amazing all the things you can see on a 3D/4D sonogram including her sucking on the umbilical cord, each little finger, her foot on top of her head, and so much more. I highly recommend visiting @babyscene1 with your family.

Homeschooling—it’s something I have truly fall Homeschooling—it’s something I have truly fallen in love with. It allows me the best of both worlds—teaching and being home with my kids. Homeschooling allows these two to become the best of friends. It allows me to really take what we’re learning and put it into our world of play. Imaginative play is so amazing at this young age and they learn so much by just playing. Yesterday, after learning about parallel, perpendicular, and intersecting lines—I took the boys outside to find lines outside. They ended up making a “fire” using sticks that they found, and creating lines out of them. 🔥 If you are hesitant on homeschooling please ask me! I’d love to answer any questions!
