To the Boy Who Made Me a Mother

http://ashleyyvonnephotography.com/

To the Boy Who Made Me a Mother,

I remember growing up and playing with dolls, one of my fondest memories as a child is going to the Lee Middleton Doll factory and picking a baby doll out of the nursery. I was even able to choose his eye and hair color. I chose a boy. I knew one day when I grew up I wanted to be a mom to a boy. In 2008, I met your father--I fell head over heels for him and in 2013 I was able to say I do. What I thought was the best day of my life. It didn't take long to realize you can have many best days of your life.

Chocolate Brownies with a Golden Crisp Crust

There is something about the holidays that brings out the baker in everyone. This year with a little one arriving any time I'm all about semi-homemade. I still get the smell of the fresh baked brownies in the oven, but I get a little help from my boxed friends. For this weeks treat to get me through the week I picked up some buy one get one brownies and used this Post cereal coupon on coupons.com for Golden Crisp® cereal.

Packing: Baby's Hospital Bag

I'm in the home stretch--almost there. This is actually the part that bothers me the most though honestly. I'm such a planner and to have no idea when my child is coming drives me a little crazy. I've done everything there is to get ready, packed my bag, prepared freezer meals, and the last thing to do was pack sweet Carson's bag.

A couple weeks ago I had these pictures done by the wonderful Alison Winterroth. She needed a model for some new dresses and backdrops, and I basically yelled hey I'm your girl! I loved these shots, and they will look gorgeous on a canvas hung up around the new house.

Menu Planning: Freezer Meals

As you can see I didn't post my menu plan on Monday. I am exhausted, and really getting up and cooking meals is not on the top of my things to do. To prepare for Carson to arrive in the next couple of weeks, I have actually frozen the meals from Home Chef into separate bags so that when the time comes for me to cook again--everything will already be prepped and ready to go.

I am pretty lucky when it comes to the first couple weeks, as my mom set up a meal delivery for every day for 2 weeks. It's an awesome website that people can sign up on. It allows them to meet the baby, and you still get home cooked meals. People really love it, and you don't have an influx of people asking when they can come over to meet your new bundle--it's already planned for you. My Type A loves it.

Packing: Mom's Hospital Bag

I can not believe that I have 5 weeks until my due date. Pregnancy is just so long, and the weeks leading up to D-Day are just the longest ones. The other night I was having Braxton Hicks that would just not stop, which reminded me that I didn't have a bag packed. The next day, you bet I packed that bag and it's ready to go.

Cauliflower Chowder

The perfect low-carb soup for a crisp fall day.

Since fall arrived made it's debut a couple weekends ago, I have been obsessed with making soups, chili, and warm comfort food. I'm a lover of potato soup--but when I saw this lovely creation I decided this needed to be made. As a huge fan of broccoli cheese soup, I had no doubt using cauliflower in a soup would be equally as delicious.

On top of sneaking in all the veggies that my son would have no idea he was eating, I added in greek yogurt at the end. To offset all the healthy stuff, you know I had to cook up some bacon and crumble that goodness on top with some cheddar cheese. I am convinced that if I hadn't told my husband that this soup was cauliflower he would have no idea what he was eating. Seriously the whole family will love this--I promise.

Menu Plan Monday #36

Happy Monday my friends! I hope you all had a fantastic weekend. We enjoyed a lovely wedding on Friday night, set trusses on Saturday and then went off to Disney for the night for fireworks. One last vacation before our little man arrives in 6 short weeks. We decided to include Bennett in on this Baby Moon. I found it very important to have him involved in this vacation. One last trip with his mom and dad before he shares us forever with his brother. It's hard to fathom what life will be like once Carson is born, but I know our lives will be changed and our hearts will grow that much more.

This week I have a delicious Cauliflower Chowder that I made my own--I did go off of this recipe, but will be posting mine tomorrow. Be on the lookout--it was delicious, and you would have no idea that it was made out of lots of cauliflower. What are you making this week?

Finally Friday

Can you believe that Tuesday will be November already? I have big plans for November since baby will be here first of December. I want the tree up by November 1st, and all presents wrapped at least by the 8th. We have our photographer taking some newborn pictures and I want the tree involved in them. What is your goal for the holidays?

Second Baby Registry

When having a second little one, I think it's usually common to think that you won't need anything--but that's actually farthest from the truth. There are a lot of things you will need with two that you didn't need with only one. I'm an avid online seller (and buyer), and generally sell quite a bit of stuff if it's laying around. Luckily, my husband would not let me sell something that would cost us more than $50, so the big items we still have (crib, mamaroo, etc.).

One of my good friends threw me a sprinkle this weekend, which was absolutely lovely. I hadn't originally planned on registering, but after many people asked what I needed I quickly put together what I knew I needed. It helps so much in people buying you things you actually want vs. what they think you wanted. Plus lots of places of completion discounts which I used today to finish purchasing the stuff I needed.

Menu Plan Monday #35

Hi friends and welcome back to Menu Plan Monday--sorry it's a little late today. We had a wonderful weekend enjoying this beautiful weather. On Saturday we enjoyed a trip to the park, and let the little guy run all around for a good hour. We had a blast outside the rest of the day. On Sunday, I had a beautiful sprinkle to celebrate Mr. Carson who will be here in 7 weeks.

I have a doctor appointment today to check on this sweet baby, and I needed some quick go to meals. We also have a wedding Friday for one of my very great friends--I am so excited for this wedding, and praying the weather is gorgeous again! Can you believe it's November next Tuesday? I. just. can't.

Have a wonderful week--What are you making?

Leftover Cheesy Potato Pancakes

Thanksgiving is always held at my house. Each of us chooses a dish to make and we all come together with our dishes, about 20 of us when it's all said and done.

This year with baby coming, I'm making green beans in the crockpot and literally calling it a day. These always go super fast and you don't have to worry about leftovers in the fridge forever. A few foods always have leftovers though, no matter how much or how little you make of them. Mashed potatoes are one of these foods.

I'm not a fan of mashed potatoes reheated--so I'm here to share with you a recipe that turns those unwanted potatoes into delicious cheesy potato pancakes. These are absolutely delicious topped with extra cheese, bacon, and a dollop of sour cream. These are absolutely delicious and will get you through the weekend of shopping

Menu Plan Monday #34

Hi friends thanks for joining me again for Menu Plan Monday! We've been super busy this weekend and last week working on the house (not me, husband)--dinner has been off, but I've continued cooking primarily at home. It's always nice to see what I have on the menu and go from there so I'm not running about. If you want to check out my other menus and recipes, you can check them out here

This week I have a fun recipe using leftover mashed potatoes that will be perfect for the holidays! Come back tomorrow for a great recipe for National Mashed Potato day. This recipe will be great for leftovers or an appetizer before the big holiday meals!

Finally Friday!

It's finally Friday, and if you've been following along on my Instagram and Instastories you can see that we had a crazy week. I kinda can't believe that the days are flying by, and that in 8 short weeks are little Carson will be here. I got a little done today, and have this goal of getting all Christmas shopping done and tree up by November 1st. I want everything wrapped and ready to go, I want to enjoy my December and not be running around like a mad woman, even if that means putting up the tree way before I usually like to have it up. This is just the beginning of my confessions--

What's in My Toddler Bag?

Although I have another little one joining our family in the next 8 weeks, I wanted to share what my Toddler "Undie" Bag. Since writing my posts about potty training I have had a couple questions about packing an extra set of clothes, what do the wet clothes go in, etc.

I have this adorable bag that I literally bring with me everywhere. It's great for swim days cause it's cotton and dries quick when I throw a towel and wet swim suits in the bottom. Plus--Mother of Wildlings accurately depicts what my life is like, even if one Wildling is still in utero.

Menu Plan Monday #33

It's Monday again! We made it through Matthew, and it actually was not too bad except for the wind over here. We did have to cancel our Disney trip this weekend, but instead we got all the walls up in the house--which is pretty exciting. It's totally coming together, I am going to be posting my lighting choices here sometime this week as well as some updated pics of the house.

This menu is definitely a fall menu. I am loving apples this time of year, and I really do put them in anything. I have a favorite that will be made on Tuesday, and it's absolutely delicious--if you love slow cooker meals, then this one is for you! I have never tried the Apple Gouda Chicken, that I am making Thursday--but anything with gouda is for me.

I have a delicious dessert coming to you this week--I can't wait to share!

Finally Friday!

The weeks are flying and I seriously have so much to do. When Bennett went back to school I said I wanted to get the rest of his photo books finished. I finished them, but have yet to get them printed. I'm hoping by the end of the year I will be able to have them all here and put away. I also made an adorable outfit for Carson when they meet Santa, and have the stuff to create a matching outfit for Bennett but it's not even cut out from the pattern yet. I really need to get on that. Luckily, we aren't doing much in Carson's room since we are moving next spring--I did however get all the clothes washed and put away.

Bath Time Favorites

Bath time is a must in our house--not just because I have a boy, but because my son demands tells us we have to do it before bed. Even when he was just a few weeks old we gave a bath every night, it just allowed him to calm down and know that it was bedtime. In the first 6 months of his life we used the Puj tub, which I kept because it's amazing and they can take a bath right in the sink of the bathroom. We then transitioned into a couple different options, before just letting him sit in the tub. Recently we painted our upstairs bathroom, and quickly fixed it up when Bennett moved upstairs to the big boy bed. We didn't want to do anything drastic since we would be moving, so some fresh paint, new shower curtain, and some art hung on the wall made it perfectly acceptable for our sweet 2 year old. I have picked five bath time favorites--and although I can pick tons more I'll stick with these five.

How I Potty Trained--Part 2

So almost 4 weeks ago we started potty training. You can read all about the first few days here. I took the advice from my cousin, and read the book Oh Crap Potty TrainingI know it sounds silly to read about potty training but trust me it will make your life easier. So grab yourself some wine, the book, and some undies and lets see what happened the rest of the week.

Menu Plan Monday #32

Hi All! Happy to have you here on this Menu Plan Monday. I'm excited for this week--we have a fun trip planned this weekend for a special family moon before sweet Carson gets here. Home Chef is making my life continually easier and I can't wait to use them especially postpartum. I am really loving making them on the weekends--they are special meals and generally only feed 2 so we take it as a date night. We still have dinner with Bennett, but he gets to enjoy one of his favorite foods while we enjoy ours.

I am super excited about the Corned Beef Hash dinner and I'm sure my family will love it. It's one of those dinners that I probably can't wait to eat, and will be eaten today.

What are you making this week?

Finally Friday!

We should call this episode of Friday Confessions, baby is coming in 10 weeks! I mean are we ever truly ready for a baby to enter into our real life? I'm not talking being pregnant..I'm talking birthing and bringing baby home. This week has been all about baking baby Carson. Must dos are high up there on the list and we had some great fun with our little Bennett who is now officially out of all things baby. Wait til you hear what we did to celebrate getting rid of the Paci.

Fall Fashion Must-Haves

 photo FALL 2.png/>

One of my favorite times of the year is Fall. Give me all the pumpkin, cinnamon, cloves--the list goes on. I'm also a lover of jackets, boots, and leggings. This year being pregnant with our sweet Carson I didn't want to spend a ton of money on a new fall wardrobe, so I'm bringing you Must-Haves that you can use pre, during, or postnatal. Some of my favorite pieces are the ones that aren't maternity, and even at 29 weeks I am still able to wear them! The items I included are essential items that anyone should keep in their closet all year long.

Menu Plan Monday #31

It's that time of week again. Get your pencil ready and jot down some of your must-haves for this week. I always ask my husband what if he has any requests, and he usually just says don't forget the meat! He doesn't really consider it a dinner if we don't have meat included in it somehow. So, unfortunately there won't be any meatless Mondays happening here because my men need some protein in their life.

This week on the blog I will share Fall Fashion Must-Haves, Potty Training Part 2, and my Finally Friday post--where I confess to you all my deepest darkest secrets favorites from the week. My in-laws return on Wednesday so I'm making a bit bigger meals on Wednesday and Thursday so they can join us--cause truth be told I missed them. I have another girls night out on Friday, so Bennett and my hubs will be on their own for dinner. Without further ado check out my meals.

Finally Friday!

Friday, my favorite day of the week as you all know by now. I am 29 weeks today, and am starting to feel Mr. Carson kick all day long. The boy is just like his brother just way lower. I'm kinda in disbelief that we have 11 weeks left. Could be less though--or more, GAH! I got some more awesome goodies in the mail this week, and soon enough I will get to share them all with you. Without further ado, here are my confessions.

How I Potty Trained--Part One

If you look on Pinterest you'll find all these greatest tips on how to potty train your kid in one day, two days, 30 minutes, etc. I'm here to tell you that every child is different, what may work for one in 30 minutes may not work for your neighbor. One thing is for sure, that by the end of day 4 of being persistent, not allowing diapers, and really watching cues we had this potty thing down.

Menu Plan Monday

I seriously can't believe that it is Monday already. The weekend flew by! I actually ended up making all of my recipes that I had planned last week, and I kinda love when that happens. This week is an equally delicious week--I seriously want to just jump down to the meatball sliders. I will be making extra of those for lunches over the next couple days. Sounds delicious right?! I had to make a noodle bowl this week, as Pei Wei keeps tempting me with weekly emails--umm hello, I can make it here. Thanks, but no thanks. I also have a delicious cookie coming this week over at She Is Blank Space--you won't want to miss it

Monday's meal is a delicious pork tenderloin with a fig sauce sent by the absolutely wonderful Home Chef. I am seriously loving Home Chef, I would definitely say it's the best service I have had out of the one's I have tried. The lasagna is a Home Chef meal as well--but I found you an easy one to make. If you want to try Home Chef here is $30 you seriously will be saving a bunch by ordering these meals that you would order in restaurants.

Finally Friday!

1. I confess it has been a week since Bennett has been out of diapers during the day. A week is a big deal ya'll. I have to give a shout out to my husband who potty trained over his birthday weekend--yes, I decided to start over his birthday. I also have a wonderful cousin who was a wonderful support through it all as well. Seriously if you want to potty train read OH Crap Potty Training--I won't tell you it's easy but it's worth it!

2. I confess last weekend was so busy--we had my husbands birthday and potty training going on. I am excited to relax this weekend and take it easy. Today my iPhone 7 comes in and I know I'll be playing around with that, we also have to make a trip to the mall to return a diaper bag that was the wrong design that we ordered. Don't worry though I got the right one in the mail today.

3. I confess I am getting really excited to show you all my goodies that I have received for my little man Carson when he arrives in December. I will be doing a fun mom bag post, baby bag post, and registry post. I did however order a gorgeous delivery gown that I can't wait to use! It won't be here for 5 weeks, but it will definitely be in my bag that I pack! We have a wonderful birth photographer again--and I say it's a must when you have a photographer present.

4. I confess I finally got the other piece to my stroller. After 2 failed attempts at purchasing the stroller extension in the last 2 months, I finally found it for the price I wanted to pay on Buy Buy Baby. It came today and I could hardly wait to put it together to see what it looked like as a double! It's getting close guys, baby Carson will be here before we know it!

5. I confess I need some ideas for Christmas for Bennett. I wanted to get him the Little Tykes blow up house but I think I am going to hold off until next year so it can be a Bennett and Carson gift. Ha! If you want to heck out last years must haves--click here!

What are you confessing?

Must Have Snack Gadgets for Littles

Snack time in our house is important. Mainly because I'm pregnant and I promise you I am hungry an hour after I ate. I try not to snack too much in front of Bennett because he will snack just for the fun of it. He is allowed to have a snack in the morning, but I limit him before dinner because he wakes so late from nap that it's almost dinner time.

When we are on the go, I typically bring a snack for him though because I never have an idea of when we will actually get home. It's also nice to have a snack if we are out to dinner and it's taking a long time to get seated or for our food to come out. These are some of my favorite products to have on hand when snack time rolls around.

1. Nuby Designer Series Snack Keeper- Ok, I was using just plastic bags and would pour into the stroller cup, or just let him eat out of the bag. The one time he dropped the baggie at the mall I knew I had to find something else. Cherrios all over Nordstrom floor had me running for the door. Seriously this cup doesn't spill stuff out, I can throw it into any bag I have and know I won't have crumbs to clean up at the end of the day. We also used this cup on the airplane so I wouldn't have to put food on the tray in front of him. This cup is wonderful for all littles ages, if it doesn't spill contents--it is definitely for me!

2. Nuby Insulated Stainless Steel No-Spill Flip-it- In Florida I am pretty sure everyone owns an insulated cup, and if you don't...well you must like warm water. My husband and I both have large insulated cups and Bennett was no exception. We enjoy being outdoors, theme parks, and going to the beach--this cup keeps his water cold for 10 hours. I don't ever have to worry about him not drinking his water because he doesn't like the temp. We also like to use these for milk so it will last longer when we are outside for extended periods of time.

3. Silikids Siliskin Silicone Cup- I have seen these floating around Pinterest for a while, I finally received one and am completely in love. The silicone lid can come off and go on any cup you want to put it on. No more bringing your kids sippy cup to dinner just bring this along and pop it right on top of the cup. This thing isn't going anywhere!

4. Silkids Silimat Map- This is another great item for on the go. This folds up just like a mat and can fit right into your purse/diaper bag. It's great for laying on the table when out to dinner or just using as a placemat at home for less mess!

5. Puj Phillup Cups- We recently did away with buying individual water bottles, instead we have the water truck deliver these huge jugs of water. We are hoping in the long run we save money since we won't be leaving water bottles thrown about with water still left in them. I am in love with these cups for Bennett when we are at home. I fill it up when I know it's empty and it hangs right on the water cooler for him to have access to. I don't fill it up completely, but we haven't had any spills from it hanging there with water in them.

What are some of your favorite snack gadgets for littles?
