#beblessedlovelies

One of the very first and favorite blogs I started following was A Blonde Ambition. I learned so much from her style of writing, tone, and ideas she had. You can say I looked up to her as a blogging mentor--virtually. Leslie started having some heart issues back in February and ended up in the hospital for a few months. About a month ago, she got to go back home and be with her two precious girls (7 months and 1.5). A few weeks after returning things seemed to take a turn for the worst and she flew up on July 17th to Cleveland Clinic to have surgery. That was the last we all had heard from her, until today when Kelly's Korner posted that she had passed.

Passed?! My mouth dropped at reading this. Tears actually welled up in my eyes. I quickly texted my husband and friend about it. I couldn't fathom leaving my babies behind, my husband. They had only just started their life together. It breaks my heart to write this. I can only pray for peace for her family. Pray for her girls who will never know their mother.

I hugged my little one a little longer this morning. Told my husband I loved him a little extra today. You never know how long you have on this earth, tell your loved ones you love them. Fix whats wrong with those that matter.

Please pray for Leslie's husband who lost his beloved wife, and his precious girls who will never get to know their mother. If you would like to donate to the family you can go here...http://www.gofundme.com/d53bgd5p8s

I am still going to continue on with my confessions every week, just as Leslie would love us all to do. ;)

Think Dirty--This or That

I know we all have our moments where we want to sit down with a box of Lucky Charms, with our Biore face mask on, while drinking a Caprisun. Ok, well maybe not all at once...but we do all have our "dirty" habits that we all indulge in time to time. I found two amazing apps that helps you determine what is the safest product or food item for your family. I'm going to compare 5 items  that you might use everyday, and show you a better option in return!

The app I am using today is THINK DIRTYThe number of how dirty something is, is on a rating scale of 1-10 with 10 being the dirtiest. I highly recommend the app, it's free and new stuff is added daily. Yes, I do believe that the majority of stuff that is "cleaner" is a little more expensive, but a lot of times you can find a coupon or deal that will make it feel a little cheaper. And hey, you are doing something good for your body your family--can't beat that! We try our hardest to purchase items that are safe for our family, as mentioned in previous posts, I've seen what chemicals have done to my hands...and now I refuse to use harsh chemicals.

For your little one--

BuyShea Moisture (3) NOT Aveeno Baby Wash and Shampoo (9)

For your eyes--

For your face --

Meal Plan Monday

This week I am trying to focus on healthier meals. My husband is starting back up with the personal trainer, and I am going to try to get my rear in gear this week by doing some type of exercise. I had to add the tacos from last week to the menu again, they were just too delicious not to make again. I highly recommend you make them this week! I am also really excited about the Cauliflower Fettuccine Alfredo. I love cauliflower and I'm not quite sure why I haven't made this yet.

Monday- Life in the Lofthouse Lemon Butter Chicken

Tuesday- Repeat Crafter Me Ranch Chicken Tacos

Wednesday- Julia's Album Healthy Fettuccine Alfredo

Thursday- Lose Baby Weight's Parmesan Crusted Chicken

Finally Friday!

Is it Friday already? I'm not complaining, but I am kind of shocked that this week literally flew by. I had a super busy week and am excited for our weekend ahead. Time for some confessions

I confess that I am so excited to have Bennett's first birthday pictures taken this weekend. I chose to have them done 3 weeks early so we could have them ready for his birthday to post online. It will be really fun to watch his reaction to the cake that we give him. I'm sure he will love it!

I confess I got to go on a trip to Hobby Lobby to shop for items for Bennett's birthday party. Our closest Hobby Lobby is about 35 minutes away, and I hate going all that way by myself so I had a friend join and left my sweet boy at home with grandma. I got some great stuff, and can't wait to share all of my goodies!
I confess that I am nerdy. I read that NASA found a planet that is very similar to Earth and could be inhabitable. I love everything space and dinosaurs. This news right here was shared with my husband as soon as he got home.

I confess I am excited to start teaching in just a few weeks. It's going to be a little different actually waking up and having to get a move on it, but I think it's going to be awesome working with 2.5 to 3.5 year olds. I am going to learn so much from them.

I confess I am super excited to do two giveaways in the coming weeks. Make sure and come back Thursday to check it out!

Menu Plan Monday

This week's menu is filled with lots of delicious recipes. I am featuring 3 new recipes on Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday. I love everything about tacos and I made these a while ago, and can't wait to make them again. Tacos are probably one of my favorite foods right now--right next to pizza. I can't wait for dinner to be done tonight!

Buffalo Chicken Pizza

When we were in Sanibel for our Anniversary trip about 3 weeks ago, we ate at the restaurant at our hotel every night. It looked out on the water and you could eat outside on some couches, it was gorgeous and the food was delicious. One of the items we ordered both nights was the Buffalo Chicken Pizza. Upon our return I literally kept dreaming about this pizza. It had the best flavor, and I needed to recreate it. In the end, this was the absolute most delicious pizza I have had in a very long time. If you are still putting together your menu for next week, make sure and include this!

Buffalo Chicken Pizza

1 Boboli Crust
1 Tablespoon of Ranch Mix or Store Bought Ranch Packet
4 Oz of Softened Cream Cheese
1/3 Cup of milk
1/2 Cup of your favorite wing sauce (I used Hooter's Mild)
Handful of chopped cooked chicken
1 1/2 cups Mozzarella Cheese
Blue Cheese Crumbles

Drizzle:

1 1/2 Teaspoon of Ranch Mix
Teaspoon of Wing Sauce

Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Mix ranch mix, cream cheese, milk, and hot sauce. Once combined pour in chicken to coat with the sauce. Pour the chicken/sauce mixture on to your crust, and top with cheese. Bake for 10 minutes. Sprinkle with Blue Cheese Crumbles and Drizzle.

11 Month Update!

Weight/Length: 21 lbs 11 oz, not sure of height we will just wait to find out next month!

Hair: His hair is a light brown/dirty blonde color. I'm pretty sure this is the way it will stay.

DiapersSize 4 and Large Gdiapers and we started using the One Size Flips which I love

Clothing: 12-18 month clothing from Gymboree and Gap, 12 Months from Carters...and we have been using 18 month PJs for when his PJs just seem too tight! We have been looking for shoes lately that are perfect for my little bear crawlin' boy, we are loving his Nikes and Stride Rite sandals--as well as many other shoes.

Favorite Thingsballs, steering wheel, cars--if it has wheels and goes he likes it (including his friends Barbie car.)

Likeswatching us vacuum, playing with his aunts and uncles and grandparents, eating, playing in his play room, taking walks with Pop Pop,

Eating: He is a great eater that's for sure! I would say some of his favorites are homemade Mac N Cheese, Bananas, Bagels, and Broccoli...oh! and avocado! He will really eat anything so I can't pin point a favorite just yet.

We transitioned to drinking his formula/milk out of a sippy cup at all times. We give with/before his Breakfast, with/before morning snack, with/before afternoon snack, then after dinner.

Milestones
  • He got his second tooth, and I don't see any coming in just yet. It doesn't stop him from eating though!
  • He took 1 step this past week, but hasn't done another one since.
  • Says Dada, Mama, bubbles, makes the sound for Pop Pop, Elmo, occasionally hi, bye, and tries his hand at I love you
  • No more bottles, and we started mixing whole milk with his formula.
  • Climbs the stairs!
  • Stands by himself for a few seconds
  • First ride at Sea World
Sleeping: He is down by 8PM, and usually up around 7 give or take 15 minutes. He takes 2 naps one at 9AM and then 2PM, they are usually between 1.5 and 2 hours. I love nap time, great time for me to take a quick breather.

Mama Thoughts:

The last month before my baby boy is a year. I am so excited that we made it through the first year, there were so many ups and downs throughout this year...it was tough! I wouldn't change it for anything though, I loved every second and would do it all over again in a heart beat. I loved that first month with him, that first week that my husband spent at home with us, waking up and rocking him, having him fall asleep on my chest. He's such a mobile little one now, and hardly stops for a second...it will only get better from here.

Menu Plan Monday

I somehow forgot to buy chicken at the grocery store last week so it was interesting when it came down to the last day of the week. I ended up making bean and chicken chimichangas which made our last chicken breast go pretty far. I don't need meat at every meal like my hubby so I was fine with just bean. Tonight I made that delicious sweet and spicy chicken. I didn't follow that recipe exactly, because I wanted to make it in the crockpot while we hung out by the pool. It was delicious though! Menu Plan Monday-Org Junkie

Finally Friday

It's Friday confession time again. I love confessing to you all every Friday. I'm not catholic, so I've never been to confessional...but I'm guessing this is what I would say if I were. ;)

I confess this morning I went and waited in line for some Krispy Kreme donuts. All the while my hubby was getting ready with Bennett awake. I kinda half expected my sister to be watching him--she spent the night--or my hubs still in bed. He was actually waiting at the door, since it kinda took a while to get through the line. Oops, at least he had donuts to bring to work!

I confess that I have date night tonight with some friends, but have no idea where we are going...so this should be fun.

I confess that we have a pretty packed weekend, starting with a birthday party on Saturday. Bring it on!

I confess that I could spend all day in the pool if Bennett would let me. It's so relaxing, and such a great way to cool off in this summer heat. The ice show at Busch Gardens isn't bad either. ;)

I confess that this open letter hit the nail on the head. If you are a female person in general and have ever lost a best friend, this read is for you. It makes me want to text/call/email that friend and just say hey.
